Sørlandet Hospital Flekkefjord is a local hospital for the municipalities in Lister, as well as Lund and Sokndal. We are an emergency hospital that receives patients in need of immediate help in the fields of medicine, orthopedics and gynaecology. The hospital is currently without an emergency surgery and trauma function. The emergency department also has an accident clinic and observation beds.

The inter-municipal emergency room in Flekkefjord is located in the emergency department, and as a nurse in the emergency department you also assist in the emergency room in the evening, at night and at weekends, as well as serve the emergency room center after your own training and certification as an emergency room operator.

The emergency department is a department in constant development and is concerned with good quality and patient safety. Emergency and reception medicines are attached to the department and facilities are made for professional and personal development. As a nurse in the ward, you have different levels of competence with associated responsibilities and roles. As a new employee, you will be well looked after in terms of competence and you will always have experienced colleagues in the department. Based on training, experience and courses, you will work your way up this competence ladder. Nurses in the emergency department are part of the cardiac arrest team at SSF and participate in regular simulations at the hospital. 

We have available 1 x 100% permanent position as a nurse/specially trained nurse in the emergency department/emergency room with entry on 23.09.24, possibly another start date by agreement.

In the case of internal recruitment, another position/position size may become vacant.

The emergency department has a flexible schedule and a three-part rotation with work currently every 3rd weekend. Possibility of 12 hour weekend shifts with work every 5 weekends after certification. The positions may, if necessary, mean that you have to expect to work up to 2 extra weekends a year.

Work assignments

  • Reception, triage and treatment of patients in need of immediate help.
  • Observe and assess patients
  • Close collaboration with doctor

  • Function as coordinating nurse (after time with experience and training) 
  • Operate emergency call center (after own certification with experience, various courses and training)

  • Calling out together with emergency room doctor (after own training and course)

Qualifications

  • authorized nurse
  • Two years of relevant experience is an advantage
  • Further education in emergency nursing/interest in studying emergency nursing
  • Interest in emergency medicine and emergency room
