Who are we?

We are a Norwegian architectural office that designs with a background in deep cultural and historical roots, to create tomorrow's solutions. Architecture, landscape and area plans emerge in a wise meeting between idea, place and expertise. Through sustainability, craftsmanship, quality materials and good solutions, we lead the line from the past to posterity.

New name and profile – egðastrek - After over 40 years with a faithful name, we at the architectural office Kristiansen & Selmer-Olsen chose in 2023 to put a dash over our old brand to give ourselves a new profile. We have our headquarters in Strandgaten in Flekkefjord and branch offices in Lyngdal and Egersund.

Managing director in egðastrek, Marvin Birkeland, tells a little about the background for the name change to Avisen Agder: "We still want to be an attractive employer and partner in the region. The name egda plays on the inspiration we draw from the landscape and cultural history of our region, which covers the old Egda county. The line symbolizes the creativity and competence in the work we do that defines the business today."

Quality, competence and local knowledge - egðastrek is local, has a high level of expertise and is multidisciplinary. We are a well-known company in the Lister region at the southern tip of Norway, and have very good knowledge of the area. One of the things that sets us apart from many competitors is architectural expertise with the highest level of planning and responsible search. egðastrek is a leader in the use of BIM planning (Building Information Modeling) across the disciplines of architecture and planning. egðastrek delivers high quality architecture and design, as well as illustrations.

The individual's expertise is valued - Our architectural office wants to realize projects of the highest possible quality, with a focus on satisfying the needs and expectations of our customers, contractors and internal team members. To achieve this, we emphasize a good work ethic. Everyone also contributes their expertise and experience within their area of expertise in order to deliver optimally. This is how we have achieved good results since 1978, when the company was established.

Study tour and social gatherings - Managing director at egðastrek, Marvin Birkeland, sees the value in taking care of our employees: "We have a strong focus on well-being and arrange the workplace as well as possible for each individual employee. We also have study trips every two years, as well as several social gatherings a year. We also have a low threshold for doing things together."

Local involvement - We are involved in the local community in various ways. This includes sponsoring and supporting leisure activities and events, as well as giving school pupils the opportunity for placement during the working week. To ease the transition for new employees, we share information about exciting attractions and leisure activities in the local area.

Diversity and sustainability - At egðastrek, we emphasize safety, quality and high competence. We offer development opportunities within various subject areas, and support employees with relevant courses. We are working towards a sustainable future and were environmentally certified in 2024. At Pilar, we value diversity, with an even distribution of gender and age among our employees.
