Who are we?

World leader in seafood - Mowi ASA is the world's leading seafood company and the world's largest producer of Atlantic salmon. The company employs 11,800 people and is represented in 25 countries. The adventure started in 1964, and since then the company has grown and been constantly changing. The beginning was modest, with a few pioneers starting small-scale fish farming. Today, Mowi is a global leader in its field (Atlantic salmon), and the country's largest farming company. Around half of the company's total production is produced in Norway.

Along the entire coast - Mowi is active along the entire coast from Flekkefjord in the south to Kvænangen in the north. The Norwegian farming industry is divided into three regions: Region Sør stretches from Flekkefjord to Sotra, and includes the counties of Agder, Rogaland and Hordaland. The region's factory is located at Hjelmeland in Rogaland.

Seafood of the highest quality - At Mowi, we aim to produce nutritious and tasty seafood of the highest quality. We cover a fifth of the global demand for farmed Atlantic salmon, and our driving force is continuous innovation and the will to produce salmon in an increasingly sustainable way. Sustainability - Mowi tops the international sustainability rating where 60 companies were assessed in the rating. For the fifth year in a row, Mowi has been ranked as the most sustainable producer of animal protein by the "Coller FAIRR Protein Producer Index". All five of our facilities in Flekkefjord are ASC certified. ASC is the strictest standard for responsible and sustainable production of salmon with seven principles for sustainability that will ensure the preservation of the environment, biological diversity, water resources and good working conditions.

Strengthens and enriches the local community - Mowi plays a significant role both locally and regionally. Every year we invest around NOK 100 million locally in Flekkefjord/Agder, by purchasing goods and services from several local companies. This includes everything from convenience stores, plumbers, carpenters and electricians to divers, workwear suppliers, hotels, catering, transport and equipment suppliers, as well as both wild-caught and farmed cleaning fish. Our support for local businesses is an important part of our commitment to strengthening and enriching the local community.
